AREA FISHING REPORT

Feb 1, 2026

It was another great week out of Anderson's Pine Point Resort.  Extreme cold temps leveled out in to at least above zero for the last part of the week.  Ice conditions are now pushing the 30" mark so bring your extensions. We received about an inch of new snow Saturday night but off road travel is still relatively easy.

The perch bite once again remained strong, with best reports coming from the Snake Pits and Little Hardwood areas.  Depths have remained consistent with 12-14ft once again being the best.  A few renters reported that gold or silver colored spoons with some flash improved their catch rate for keeper size perch.  Fatheads or Rainbow minnows were again bait of choice with either a minnow head or a full size minnow dangled with a plain hook under a deadstick.

Walleye reports improved a bit, with a few fish being caught in the overnight and early morning hours in 16-18ft.  Actively jigging reaction baits such as a jigging rap, rippin rap or else a bigger size minnow under a dead stick produced the best.  A few walleyes were caught on tip ups set out away from the house during daylight hrs.

Eelpout had a slight uptick as well with a few fish being caught even in the middle of the day.  Northern Pike were active once again with a few fish close to the 30' mark reported.

We still have a few open spots for the rest of the year, especially during the week.  Come fish for a day or stay for multiple, we can cover you on both options.

Extreme cold temps this week slowed fishing for some but not others.  Ice depths are now in the 25-27" range in most parts and there is still minimal snow on the lake.  It looks like the cold will continue through part of the week but get better towards the weekend.

Even through the cold, the perch bite remained relatively strong out of most rentals.  Best depths were in the 12-14ft range with a few reports of a decent bite in the 18-20ft range as well.  A slower approach such as a dead stick with a plain hook and fathead or rainbow minnow were what most reported working best.  Any kind of glow jigging spoon with a minnow head or plastic worked as well during peak times.  Best hrs were once again early morning and then again in the early afternoon.

Walleye reports really slowed, with only a few fish reported during the overnight hrs.  You're best bet now for walleyes is to stay mobile and make as little noise as possible.  Keep it simple with deadsticks and plain hooks, or smaller jigging size spoons tipped with a minnow head only.

Pike were slower this week as well, with most fish being caught in the protected slot range or just below.  A few eelpout were caught once again, with a few even being caught during daylight hours.

We are starting to fill up for the remaining weeks of the ice season.  Give us a call or shoot us a message to book your next sleeper or day house before the season is over!

Fishing improved dramatically over the past week our of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  Early week temps in the 30s provided us a chance to get out and scout around to find some new areas.  Snow conditions are still minimal other than along the old roads where it collected a significant amount of drifting. The wind finally died a bit today which allowed us to re-open the road system, however off road travel is still relatively easy.   Current ice depts are in the 24" range and there are no vehichle or fish house restrictions.

The perch bite was very strong over the past week.  Depths in the 13-14ft range were once again most productive for numbers and true jumbo size perch.  Jigging spoons with a full or half minnow were the number one choice once again, followed by a plain hook set beneath a dead stick with a full fathead or rainbow minnow.  A very good bite with some of our rentals reporting 100 fish days.

The walleye bite improved a bit as well, with most fish being caught during the twilight hrs actively jigging a larger sized glow spoon and minnow head.  Most walleyes caught were in the 21-25 inch range and were very nice healthy fish.
Northern Pike were once again abundant and will bite almost anything you put down.  A few larger fish outside of the slot were caught on tip ups with sucker minnows set away from the house.

Eelpout reports are starting to slow down, which is typical for this time of year until they get ready for spawn towards late Feb - Early March.

We still have a few openings for the weekend.  Give us a call or shoot us a message if youd like to book a day house or sleeper and get in on some of the action!

Ice conditions are now in the 20-22" range and snow amount is still at a minimum providing easy access to almost all areas that are not cut off by heaves.  A minor amount of drifting occured yesterday with the wind, however off road travel is still relatively easy. There are now no vehicle or house size restrictions going out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.

The perch bite over the week slowed some from the week prior but most renters were still able to keep a decent amount of 9-11' eating size fish.  Early morning and late afternoon hrs have been most productive once again actively jigging gold, green or orange jigging spoons tipped with a half or full minnow.  Best depths were in the 11-13ft range with some decent reports coming from 16-18ft as well all the way out to 20ft depths in the Snake Pits area.

A few walleye were once again caught during the evening and overnight hours.  Set lines, dead sticks or tip ups away from the house with a plain hook and larger minnow produced most fish.  Best depths for walleyes were similar to perch, with a few fish being caught in the 16-18ft range off the edge of steeper breaks.

Pike were once again abundant with many being under the 22-26" protected slot.  A few over 26" were reported but not many.

Eeelpout still remained active for many during the overnight and early morning hours. We still have a few openings for this upcoming weekend. Give us a call or shoot us a message if you would like to get out!

January 4th, 2026

Happy New Year! 2026 started out with a bang out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  Ice conditions are getting better each day and snow on the lake is minimal providing opportunities to get just about anywhere.  At last measure, 18-19 inches of ice was the norm in areas we've been and scouted.  There are now no vehicle or house size restrictions.

The perch bite really picked up, with most of our renters catching a good amount of 9-11" keeping size fish and bonus 12-13" size mixed in as well.  Early morning and late afternoon hrs have been most productive actively jigging gold, green or orange jigging spoons tipped with a half or full minnow.  Usually when the bigger ones come through they are not too picky.  Best depths again were in the 12-14ft range with some decent reports coming from 16-18ft as well.

A few walleye were caught during the evening and overnight hours.  Set lines, dead sticks or tip ups away from the house with a plain hook and larger minnow produced most fish.  Best depths for walleyes were similar to perch, with a few fish being caught as shallow as 9-10ft on top of the structure.

Pike were abundant once again throughout the week with many being under the 22-26" protected slot.  A few over 26" were reported but not many.

Eeelpout still remained active for many during the overnight and early morning hours.  A few fish up to 10lbs were reported.

We still have a few openings for this upcoming weekend.  It looks to be a nice week weather wise so let us know if you'd like to get out!  The lodge will be open once again starting Friday for drinks, food and tabs!

December 28th, 2025

The first weekend of rental season was a success as ice conditions in the Goose Island area are great considering how early in the season we are.  Most areas have 15-17 inches of ice with minimal to now snow, providing easy access to almost all areas that are not cut off from ice heaves. We did receive a couple inches of snow today which was much needed for house banking purposes.

Over the weekend perch fishing was great for some and not so great for others.  This is pretty typical for how early in the ice season we are.  As we get into January the smaller pods of perch will start expanding into new areas of deeper water.  Best depths were 11-13 ft using a smaller jigging spoons in Wonderbread color tipped with a minnow or small plastic.  Location was more key than presentation, so finding the right area was more so important than what you actually used for bait.

Walleye reports were fair.  Most saw a fish or two in the morning and evening hours on set lines with a bigger size minnow on a plain hook.  A few fish all the way up to 26 inches were caught, mostly in the grand view flats area in 9-11ft of water.

Pike were plenty active in the area as usual, with most being of the smaller size or in the protective 22-26" slot.  A few nice eelpout and even a couple bonus largemouth bass were reported as well.

We have plenty of openings this week for new years and also the first weekend in January.  Let us know if you'd like to get out on some of the first ice action of the year!
